How to Take the Cron Job Backups using JetBackup?

Websites or servers run various automatic tasks in the background. These scheduled tasks, like sending emails, cleaning up files, or running scripts at fixed times, are called cron jobs. Well, these cron jobs also need a backup like your files or database, so that you should be able to get everything back as it was if there is any issue.

JetBackup is a tool that helps you with the backups of your cron jobs. It has a very simple and clean interface, so you don’t need to be an expert to use it. You can swiftly enter the Cron Job Backups section and download a backup file to your computer or restore the settings directly to your server.

In this article, we will discuss how to download a cron job backup and also restore a backup whenever needed using JetBackup.

How to Download a Cron Job Backup Using JetBackup

  • To get started, you need to log in to your cPanel account. Then, navigate to the JetBackup panel and look for the section that shows all your backup options. You will find one option specifically meant for cron jobs.
  • Click on Cron Job Backups, and a page will open where your available backups are listed.
  • You can keep a copy of the cron jobs on your own system. For that, click on Generate Download.

After that, a small box will pop up. This box will show some details about what exactly is being downloaded. If everything looks good, just press OK.

Now the system begins preparing the backup file. You might have to wait a little while.

  • Once the link to download appears, click on it. Your file will then get saved to your computer.

This file is useful if you want to store a backup outside your hosting server or share it with your developer.

How to Restore Cron Job Backup Using JetBackup

You can restore the cron jobs from JetBackup in case anything goes wrong or you just want to bring back your old cron settings.

  • Go back to the same Cron Job Backups section inside JetBackup. There, along with the download link, you will see a Restore option. Just click on that.

Now, a new box will appear. This is to confirm that you are about to start the restore process.

  • To continue, tick the checkbox that says you have read and agreed. Then, type your email address in the given space. You will get updates about the process in your inbox.
  • Finally, press the Restore button.

The system now moves the task to the queue. This means your restore request is in line and will be processed shortly. You can check the status on the Queue page.

  • Once done, you will also get an email with the result. That way, you will always stay informed even if you step away from your computer.

Conclusion

Having a cron job backup with JetBackup helps you recover fast. You don’t have to manually redo all your scheduled tasks. The tool does it for you with just a few simple steps.
