To reset the cPanel file manager, follow the below steps:
- To begin with, first login to your cPanel account with login credentials.
- Select the “File Manager” icon. It will list all the existing files and folders.
- To view hidden files, select the settings button in the top right corner. Then, select the check box to “Show Hidden Files” to see if all the hidden files are visible.
- Choose the “Select All” option to highlight all the files and folders that are available in the file manager.
- Choose the delete option . Then a confirmation message will appear, skip the recycle if you wish to and proceed to confirm deletion to all the selected files and folders.
- After the deletion, press the reload option to refresh. Then you can see folders like trash or cPanel.
- Choose the upload button, select zip file that contains original cPanel files, folders and click open to upload them.
- Once the files are uploaded, reload the page, select the uploaded file and choose the extract option. Enter slash / when it prompts for directory. Then choose extract to unpack files
- Verify if the public_html folder is clickable, if it is possible then it means you have successfully reset the file manager.
- After the extraction is done, delete the zip file to clear up the space.
