What Are MIME Types And How To Add Them?
MIME is an abbreviation for Multipurpose internet mail extensions. MIME (Multi-purpose Internet Mail Extensions) stands for a protocol that helps manage and instruct web browsers on how to handle specific types of content. It is a standard which is originally developed to extend emails to be able to support more formats such as non-ASCII text and attachments in the form of audio, image, video or executable files. The MIME type is part of the header of the MIME and specifies the type of media contained in the e-mail. This is often referred to as media type or MIME Content type.
For example: an .html file is of a text/html MIME type and this instructs your browser to interpret all of the files that use the extension as HTML document file.
In this article we explain how to add the MIME File Types to your web server, define the name, directory, and file extension that correspond to the MIME type.
MIME types in cPanel allows the users to set Multi–Purpose Internet Mail Extensions of a file.If a file is sent to a browser, the MIME type of that file is also sent to the browser in order to open that file.
A MIME type has two parts

For example, the MIME type for Microsoft Word files is application/msword, where application is a type and msword is a subtype.
