Learn to monitor blacklisted sites using Dropmysite

Visitors trust your site. However, any issues such as malware or phishing attacks can spoil your reputation in no time. Moreover, your site can also get blacklisted by Google Safe Browsing. When that happens, browsers will start warning people about your website. Resultantly, you might lose a lot of traffic before you even realise something is wrong.

Well, Dropmysite offers a useful feature that monitors your website’s reputation and checks if Google Safe Browsing has flagged it as unsafe.

Dropmysite is actually a powerful backup and monitoring tool available right inside your cPanel. Besides just backups, it smartly watches out for any blacklisting activity. So, in case anything suspicious happens, it immediately sends you an email alert. You can then act fast, fix the issues, and avoid losing trust and traffic.

It makes the whole process smooth because you do not need to keep checking manually. It monitors things in the background and keeps you updated.

Now, let us move ahead and see how you can set up and manage the blacklist monitoring using Dropmysite inside your cPanel.

Setting Up Blacklist Monitoring for Your Website with Dropmysite

Start by accessing your cPanel account, where your website is hosted. Log in and you will find a section labelled as SOFTWARE on the main page. In that section, you need to find and click on Dropmysite.

The Dropmysite dashboard will open. There, you will notice many options related to backup and monitoring. Look for the option that says Add Website Blacklist Monitor . Click on it, and it will take you to a new page where you can set up the monitoring rules.

You have to carefully fill out a few important details here:

  • Choose the website profile that you wish to keep an eye on from the Website dropdown.
  • Enter the full URL of the site you want Dropmysite to monitor.
  • If your website uses a database and you want to include it in the checks, you can select the relevant database from the given list.
  • Provide a valid email address where you prefer to receive alerts if something goes wrong.

There is one very important setting you should notice. You can stop Dropmysite from making backups after it finds malware or phishing content. For this, then you must tick the option that says Stop backup after malware or phishing alert detected. It helps in stopping further corrupted backups and keeps your backup clean.

Before you save the settings, remember to tick the checkbox agreeing to the terms and conditions of the Website Blacklist Monitor. Without agreeing, the system will not activate the monitor.

Finally, once you are sure everything is filled correctly, click on Save. With this, your blacklist monitoring gets activated, and Dropmysite starts keeping watch over your website.

  • Whenever Dropmysite detects that your website is blacklisted, it will send you an email alert. The message will include a link that you can click to acknowledge the receipt of the alert. Alternatively, you can go to the dashboard and click on the Acknowledge icon next to the notification.
  • If you feel something suspicious and want to check immediately, you do not have to wait for scheduled scans. You can click on Check Now , and Dropmysite will instantly check your website’s status against Google Safe Browsing.
  • If you want more detailed information about your site’s status and what issues Google is flagging, you can launch the Google Diagnostic tool directly from the dashboard.
  • You may no longer want to monitor a particular website, you can click on Delete , and the monitor will be removed.

This way, monitor and update your blacklist settings egularly to stay ahead of any potential problems.

Important Notes

  • Always make sure the email address you provide is active and frequently checked. Alerts are only useful if you see them quickly.
  • Do not ignore the alerts. Even a small delay in responding to malware or phishing attacks can cost you traffic and trust.
  • If Dropmysite stops backups after detecting malware, fix the issue first before re-enabling backups. This keeps your backup copies clean and safe.
  • Regularly use the Check Now option, especially if you make any major changes on your website.

By using Dropmysite smartly, you can make sure your website stays off blacklists and maintains trust and authenticity. It only takes a few minutes to set up, but it can save you from major trouble later.
