Not able to Park OR add a Addon domain
Whenever you are managing a domain in cPanel, you could encounter an error while trying to park or add an addon domain. This usually happens when the domain’s name servers point to external IP not recognized by your server. Understanding why it occurs and knowing the right fix could save you significant troubleshooting time.
“Using nameservers with the following IPs: Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this server’s nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver. “
This is because unregistered domains OR domains pointing to some other IP’s are not allowed to be added on the server. You either need to ask your web host to enable it OR make the changes if you host a VPS OR dedicated server.
Log in to your hosting account:
- Access your hosting control panel
Navigate to addon domains:
- Look for a section like “Addon Domains” under the “Domains” category.
Enter the domain details:
- Provide the domain name you want to add.
- You would need to specify a directory where the site’s files will be stored. This directory could be created automatically in most cases.
Set up DNS Records:
- Ensure that the DNS records for addon domain point to your hosting account’s nameservers.
Create Emails:
- You may need to set up email accounts for new domains separately.
Save Changes:
- Apply or Save the changes.
Conclusion
Once the fix is applied, you can easily park or add addon domains without any further interruptions inside the cPanel account.
