It provides an extra layer of security for your accounts, which is more than just traditional username and password. It prevents unauthorized access even when the password is known.
With cPanel webmail, two-factor authentication can be enable by following the below steps, here’s how:
Steps to Setup Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Step 1: Login to your Webmail Account
When logging to cPanel, you need to provide a username and password.
Step 2: Navigate to Two Factor Authentication Option
From the webmail management screen, navigate to the Two-Factor authentication option at the bottom right corner.
Step 3: Set up Two-Factor Authentication
Once you select the option, set up Two-Factor by scanning the QR provided in the authenticator app as per instructions. You can use the Google Authenticator app as an authentication app.
Step 4: Configure Two-Factor Authentication
Once you scan the QR code, the authenticator application displays a 6 digit code. Then the 6 digit code should be entered in the security text box, followed by “Configure Two-Factor Authentication”.
Step 5: Get Authentication Configuration Prompt
Once the Two-factor authentication is configured, you will get a prompt saying that authentication is success.
Now, you can access your webmail to verify and enter the 6 digit code. This code keeps changing every 30 seconds.
