How To Access a cPanel File Manager?

Process to Access cPanel File Manager
Open File Manager: Go to the Files section in your cPanel and click File Manager.
Default Directory: It opens at `/home/userdirectory`. You can change this in Settings.
Show Hidden Files: Enable Show Hidden Files (dotfiles) in Settings to view system files like `.htaccess`.
Website Files Location:
- Primary Domain: Website files go in the `public_html` folder.
- Addon Domains: Files are stored in `home/user/youraddondomain.com`.
This folder is created automatically when an addon domain is added.
File Manager Interface Sections:
1. Toolbar – Create folders, delete, upload/download files.
2. File Window – Displays files/folders of the selected directory. Shows “This directory is empty” if no files exist.
3. Navigation Toolbar – Allows moving between folders.
4. Current Location Window – Displays the directory you are in.
How to Upload File on File Manager?
- Access File Manager and make or find a folder to upload files.
- Click the Upload icon.
- Choose “Select File” and search for the file on your computer.
- Choose the file and click Open/Choose.
- Or drag and drop the file from your computer into the upload window.
To Copy/Move a file
- Go to the File Manager.
- Select the files to copy/move (to select multiple files, hold the Ctrl+Command button).
- Once selected, choose the Copy or Move icon Or right-click on the selected files and choose.
- Copy or Move option from the drop-down menu.
- After completion, a confirmation window will show up with the final destination.
To Delete a file
- Go to the File Manager.
- Go to the folder where the deleted files are located.
- Click the Delete icon after selecting files Or right-click on the file and use the Delete option from the drop-down menu.
- The confirmation window will show up after the process is done.
- And the deleted files are moved to the system .trash folder.
- To remove the files permanently, check mark Skip the trash and permanently delete the files option.
